Residency program
We belive in connection, Community & expansion, which is why we broaden our offerings each year by partnering with Residents in all areas of the creative and mindful arts. REsidents bring new and special perspectives to Otros ojos’ programming, while also gaining valuable time for thier own practices.
Each resident we work with is an expert in their creative field and brings a new lens to how we view and digest the cultural landscape of Havana. Trips that partner with an Otros Ojos resident will have special curriculum taught by the resident over four days, either in the morning or afternoon.
Residents join us in Havana for a week, from Monday to Monday. They offer four, two-hour workshops over the course of the five night trip they have helped curate, join the welcoming dinner on Wednesday evening, come to any arts programming they are curious about and are a part of our culminating dinner and concert on Sunday evening. All other time is at their discretion to explore and pursue what feeds their practice.
Residents receive airfare to Havana, accommodation in our neighborhood in a private apartment with verdant outdoor garden with space for writing and making, breakfasts each morning, and a stipend for meals and exploration outside of the trip’s itinerary.
Cuban residents who do not require room & board or airfare, are given an additional stipend for their time that allows them extra space to pursue their work outside of their other obligations.
